Hello, I’m Lisette, a birth and postnatal doula based in Hackney. Originally from Sweden, I have been calling London my home for over twenty years. I live in London Fields with my husband, daughter and our grumpy cat Moomoo. I support families in all areas of London.
My passion for pregnancy, birth and postpartum support started during my own journey to motherhood. It was long and complex, followed by a rather anxious pregnancy, birth and postnatal period. I was fortunate to have two wonderful women walk alongside me on my journey, my fertility and pregnancy acupuncturists, one of whom was also a doula. Their knowledge and compassionate care kept me going through hard times and have hugely inspired me to support other women and birthing people.
In 2024 I completed a 9 month doula training course with Nurturing Birth. It gave me an extensive understanding of birth and the fourth trimester. Since then I have continued to deepen my knowledge through further studies and workshops, but mostly through the many wonderful families and births I have been fortunate to support.
As a birth doula, my aim is to support you, and your birth partner, to feel safe, informed and empowered in your choices throughout your pregnancy, birth and the postnatal period. Each person and each birth is unique, and my support reflects this. How we work together depends on your specific needs. My care is heart centered and continuous. I offer emotional, informational and practical support. My approach is adaptable, well-informed and highly sensitive to each person I work with. I will support you in preparing for the upcoming birth, and the time after, by sharing evidence based information around birth, physiology, birth options, hospital routines and navigating the system, birth dynamics and tools and techniques for keeping comfortable, and anything else you want to know more about. Together we will create a birth and postnatal plan that suits you and your individual needs. I have experience supporting different kinds of births, including c-sections. I honour and respect every way babies are born. I am there for you whether you want a home birth or a hospital birth, no medicated pain relief or all the pain relief. I have no preference and I hold no judgement.
As a postpartum doula, I will support you and your family, in the days and weeks, sometimes months, after birth. I will provide emotional, informational and practical support to aid your recovery and healing and make the transition smoother for you and your family. I am a good listener and I make a pretty good cup of tea. I also have an interest in supporting postpartum recovery through nutrition and will happily prepare yummy meals and snacks for you.
Alongside private clients I also work with the charity Sister Circle, providing birth and postpartum support to women from diverse communities living with complex challenges. All women and birthing people have the right to a safe, compassionate and supported journey into motherhood, no matter their background or financial status.
I believe being prepared, informed and feeling safe and supported play a big role in having a positive birth and postnatal period. I would love to walk alongside you on this journey. Feel free to reach out for more information on the packages I offer, and to book a complimentary introduction call or meeting.
When I am not doula’ing I enjoy spending time with friends and family. With family in both Sweden and Australia this involves a fair bit of travelling. You might also find me on my bike, at an art gallery or at the lido. Swimming is my self care. I also hope to, one day soon, get back to meditation and be able to read novels of choice from cover to cover. Life is full, and for that I am grateful.
