I'm Lizzie an artist and doula from Gr Manchester. I have been working as a freelance artist creating work in the community for the last 7 years working with all sorts of different people and projects but have particularly enjoyed creating space and exploring women's stories this led to a project in which we painted women Antenatally, celebrating their amazing strength and individual journeys into mother-hood.
My Journey into Birth work as a Doula has come about from my own passage into motherhood and experiencing a beautiful empowering birth of my son 9 years ago. I've always been fascinated by the physiology of birth and the amazing power of pregnancy and creating new life with all its highs and lows. Everyone should get the opportunity to birth in the best way possible and since hearing and supporting many friends who ended up for a multitude of reasons having traumatic births its ignited a passion for supporting women and nurturing female intuition in all it's powerful forms.
Pregnancy, birth and motherhood look entirely different for every individual and my role in supporting you through your journey into matrescence will be tailored to your preferences and needs. My art and creativity will also inform the care and experience I give my clients with opportunity's to record precious moments antenatally, birth and post-partum, with photographs and personalised art-works. I would also like to offer my clients the unique experience of being body painted towards the end of pregnancy celebrating transitioning into motherhood. I feel in the modern world we've really lost the connection to ritual and we no longer honour these big transitional changes in our lives and I think honouring this with photographs you can keep with your amazing pregnant body adorned with art celebrating you and your journey of creating and growing a beautiful new life.
I Will support you during pregnancy with 2/3 antenatal sessions where I will help inform you to create your birth preferences and and if needed advocate for you on your journey through the heath-care provider. I will be on call 2 weeks before your due date and till the baby is born. I will offer support not only to you but to your partner and family giving them help and information on how they can best support you through the process. It's an Over-whelming time for everyone and that's okay I'm here to help provide care, support.
I've recently trained with the Doula Training foundation.
