As a mother of two girls (born in 1998 and 2000) I used hypnotherapy for both of their births and found it helped me so much I trained with the London College of Clincal Hypnotherapy at Imperial College for three years to qualify to help other women. I have been practicing as a clinical hypnotherapist since 2001, specialising in hypnobirth, and naturally started to work as a doula as my clients asked me to be there with them for their births. (Please note: I am no longer working as a birth doula)
It is a privilege to befriend women and help them using my experience and training to prepare them for the birth of their baby using hypnosis and to help them get the most out of motherhood. As a post natal doula, I want to give you the support that I had when I first had my babies, to enable you to bond with your baby and focus on what is important whilst I do everything else - or juggle your baby whilst you take care of yourself.
I believe that it is invaluable to have a person with you at these times in your life who has been there herself and who understands what you are going through, acts before being asked and can truly empathise and also find the humour and laugh with you.
Motherhood is the easiest hardest job in the world. I was trained by Michel Odent and Paramana Doula; I am a St John Ambulance certified Baby and Child Lifesaver; I was invited to become member of Maternity Services Liaison Committee for my local NHS trust; I am fully police checked (Enhanced Disclosure) and hold Public Liability insurance.
As one of the older members of the doula community (ahem) I am an active mentor and help to guide new doulas through their journey to becoming recognised. In addition, I am a fully trained, qualified hypnotherapist who specialises in childbirth. I can teach you to use self-hypnosis during labour and birth. I use positive visualisation and time distortion and direct suggestion to remove any fears before your birth and also assure you of your ability to be a good mother. I am also trained in massage for labour, reiki and can cook (I run a supper club, so know all about dietary requirements). I am available for post-natal work (and offer a fabulous home-cooking service), but choose to work close to home (I ride a bicycle).
