My experiences in bringing my babies into the world was the catalyst to my becoming a doula. I have two young children. They are wonderful little people who surprise me, challenge me and bring me joy every day. Before having them, I was a card-carrying member of the infertility club. My own journey to parenthood involved loss and IVF. I understand the additional complexity that this can bring to your conception journey, pregnancy and parenting. 

I’m also a doula because birth just gets me fizzing. It’s just so incredible how birthing bodies work. The transition we undergo in bringing our babies into the world is second to none. I will never cease to be amazed by it or stop enjoying learning about it and witnessing it. I find being able to support people in this phase of their lives is such an immense honour and privilege.

If you feel like hiring a doula is a lot of money, remember it is essentially the price of one beach holiday for two, but your baby will only be born once and you will only experience this birth once. In my experience the money is nothing if you actually calculate the hours you have your doula to support you, do research for you, advocate for you.
