About Me
Hi! I’m Marika (she/her), a new birth doula based in London. I take an inclusive approach to my practice, with a focus on mental health, consent, and care.
I was raised in Tokyo, spent a decade in Los Angeles, and have been London-based for the past 4 years. As an eldest child, I saw my mother give birth abroad in three different countries, far from her support network. These experiences helped me understand the importance of having support and care — especially during a family’s earliest days.
My goal is to offer a nurturing space for all birthing people and families, creating a healthy and happy transition into parenthood.
My approach and values
I’m trained in the Continuum Doula model, which specialises in continued care before, during, and after birth. I centre my work around emotional and practical support for the entire family.
I’m committed to creating a safe, non-judgemental, and caring space during these vulnerable moments of transition. I’ll aim to connect honestly and intentionally with you, honouring the past experiences that have brought you to this important moment in life. I’ll advocate for you and your loved ones, to make sure your parenting goals are honoured and respected. I feel strongly that informed parents are empowered parents — and I’ll support you in finding the answers you need to get there.
How I can support you
My practice provides 3 antenatal visits, birth attendance, and 3 postnatal visits. Here are some examples of ways I can help.
- Planning and de-briefing your birth experience with you
- Emotional support and a calm, empathetic ear during stressful moments
- Homemade meals and top snack selections for the family
- Care for your baby while you rest, relax, and have some time alone or with loved ones
- Help around the home
- Referrals for local healthcare professionals, groups, and support networks
- Support for back-to-work and other family transitions
