About Me
Hi there!
My name is Megan – I am a doula, pregnancy shiatsu practitioner, teacher and mama. I offer flexible, tailor-made packages covering all stages of pregnancy and birthing. Babies and women’s bodies know how to birth naturally and peacefully given the optimum conditions and I do my utmost to ensure these conditions are protected, whatever that means for you. I am passionate about supporting women’s choices through pregnancy and birth.
Having started out as a musician and music teacher, I trained at the Zen School of Shiatsu in London, graduating in 2003 and completed their teacher training in 2004. Soon after, I began studying Pregnancy Shiatsu with Suzanne Yates at Well Mother in Bristol – a process interceded with growing, birthing and raising my own 2 children (now 12 and 5). I completed my doula training with the Red Tent Doulas and I’m bringing these paths together to offer tailor made packages covering all stages of pregnancy and birthing. I am thrilled to have the opportunity to study with Michel Odent later in the year on his Paramana doula training. I am also a qualified yoga teacher (Scaravelli-inspired) through the Acquaviva School of Yoga and offer 121/small group yoga and nurture sessions (to anyone, pregnant or not!)
*During this time I am offering online doula support for the pregnancy and post-partum period. Depending on circumstances and taking into account government guidelines I may be able to offer birth support. Please do be in touch if you need.*
As a Doula..
I offer practical and emotional support at this powerful transition time.
Together we will create the space to fully connect with the deep knowledge and instincts you have about what your body and baby need at each point in the journey. You can gain clarity on the right path for you during your birth and beyond.
I can provide evidence-based research, should you wish, in order that you can make fully informed decisions about the choices which may come up during pregnancy, birth and after baby is born. I am there to discuss and support whatever these choices may be.
Babies and women’s bodies know how to birth naturally and peacefully given the optimum conditions and I do my utmost to ensure these conditions are protected, whatever that means for you.
I offer shiatsu and birth preparation sessions throughout all stages of pregnancy, birth and beyond. These can be combined into a package of doula support during the latter stages of pregnancy should you wish. You can include birth pool hire, birth attendance and/or post-natal visits in whatever combination works for you.
“As a dad-to-be, pregnancy and parenthood were both full of unknowns. Having Megan as a doula meant that everything – from answers to basic questions to expert practical guidance – was available to us whenever we needed it.” – BS
If you are considering hiring a birth doula, feel free to contact me for a free initial consultation.
“I found Megan to have an extremely intuitive, calming and sensitive approach. The visits during pregnancy were invaluable and the trusting relationship we created helped mentally and physically prepare me for the challenges of birth. I highly recommend Megan. I respect her work and her personable approach was just what I was looking for.” JF
I work with the charity Pregnancy Sickness Support which offers information and advice for those suffering with Hyperemesis Gravidarum and NVP (nausea and vomiting in pregnancy) and am a breastfeeding supporter currently working with Brighton and Hove’s wonderful infant feeding team on the postnatal ward at the Royal Sussex County Hospital. I hold an enhanced DBS.
