I live with my husband and have 3 children : Sam(1995) Benjamin(1998) and Isabella(2001) and 2 very well loved dog. I love being a mother, and watching my children grow into independent young people is the most rewarding job ever.
In 2005 I had the great privilege to be a birthing partner for a very close friend. It was a pivotal life moment where I ‘remembered’ my life’s calling.
I loved ever minute of the birthing process and knew that somehow I wanted to work in this area. I learned about doulas and set about training. To be able to offer practical and emotional support to parents at such a special time is a total honor. I was very fortunate to have had 3 natural births (varying from 24hrs+ to 6 hours). I found labour and birthing my children incredibly empowering. I feel passionately that women (and men) should have positive memories of the births of their children whether it be a natural, assisted or c-section birth.
I have been practicing homeopathy for many years having qualified in 1997. Homeopathy is a safe, gentle and effective system of medicine that can be used to treat many conditions. Homeopathy works wonderfully in pregnancy, during labour and postnatal period. I have found it particularly successful in helping pain management and nausea in labour. I am led by the parents as to whether we use homeopathy as a tool.
In 2017 I studied hypnobirthing with Katherine Graves. Breath is the very cornerstone of life and to have an awareness of how our breath can support us in birth (and in our daily lives) is so empowering and a priceless gift.
I have been very fortunate to have supported parents in a variety of birth situations including home births; waterbirths; successful VBACs; c-section follwing failure to dilate; planned c-section; epidural and forceps delivery; natural hospital deliveries; successful induction due to pregnancy complications. I have worked extensively In my 2 local hospitals Kingston and West Middlesex as well as Queen Charlottes (both privately and NHS); Chelsea and Westminster and The Portland hospital. I am happy to travel up to 45 minutes.
Throughout the years I have been a doula representative for the local area, doula mentor or both birth and postnatal trainees, favilirated a vibrant birth support group and been a longstanding member of West Middlesex Hospital's Members Sevices Liason Comittee (MSLC).
