About Me
I want to change the world. I want to make it more compassionate, more supportive, more intuitive. To do this, I think the support new mothers and babies receive in the postpartum period is critical. Education around normal newborn behaviours, and the new mother’s emotional, psychological, physical, economical changes postpartum need to be mainstream. I am passionate that new mothers should parent intuitively, slowing down and taking the time to recover, honour this transition, and really get to know their new baby. But to do this, mothers need their village. Partners, friends, family, and a trusted doula. I want to nurture you. I want to provide comfort and support in those moments where you don’t know what is best. I want to reassure you, and help you to find the information you need. I am Mother Nurture. I am your postpartum doula.
My name is Natalie and I am a postpartum (postnatal) doula. I live in Leamington Spa with my husband and our three children, 8 year old twin boys and our 4 year old daughter.
I am really passionate about the care new mothers and families receive in the time after your baby is born. We are social, community centred creatures. We are meant to have support around us particularly after the huge event of childbirth. Emotional and practical support from our loved ones, who can in turn also support each other as the ripples of a new addition are felt throughout a family and community.
Normalising the huge emotional shift in new mothers is also really important to me. The transition to motherhood is a seismic shift now known as matrescence, akin to adolescence for the sheer impact is has on new mothers. I want to be the support for you. The listening ear, the idea bouncer, the tissue passer. I can provide comfort when needed, and by directing you to evidence based research, I can support you to find the right decision for your family. I can share my own experiences from my own three children, and my training in birth debriefing can support you to process your birth experience.
Alongside that, I offer very practical support. I make a great cup of tea (I probably drink too many!), will often bring snacks, and can provide light household care including prepping a meal with the ingredients you have. I will happily look after your new baby whilst you rest or recharge, or I can simply sit with you and provide company and reassurance.
I have an array of parenting, birth, and postpartum books, baby related items (reusable nappies, slings, breast pumps) all available for loan or a try out before purchasing yourself. I have contacts in various fields that may be useful to you, so can provide personal recommendations if specialist support is needed (i.e. IBCLC, osteopaths).
I continue to develop my skills as a doula, and am very interested in postpartum practices in more traditional cultures and will incorporate many learnings in my offerings.
I have a range of set packages you could choose from, but I am equally happy to create a bespoke package for you based on your needs. My website has all the details including my fees.
