Thank you for visiting my page to find out a little more about me, the services I offer and to help you decide whether I am the right doula for you.

Hi! I’m Natalie, ‘The Dragonfly Doula’, a recognised Doula UK doula following the successful completion of my Developing Doulas training course, in February 2020 and the recognition process in March 2022.
As a mother of three wonderful children, I know how amazing it is to become a parent and how important this pregnancy is to you. But, as an expectant parent you have the most incredible number of choices and options open to you, which many people aren’t even aware of and those that are can find totally overwhelming.

That is where I come in …… It is my purpose as your doula to empower you to fully understand all of these options and, with the gentlest of touches, help you to have ‘your birth, your way’. I will support you practically and emotionally so that you feel heard, understood and are provided with the information you need to make informed decisions about your choices as a parent.

There are so many ways that we can work together to make your experience a positive one.

I can assist you with your antenatal preparations; talking through the process of labour and birth and if you are interested how hypnobirthing techniques could help you to feel calm, relaxed and positive as birth approaches. We would build a relationship of trust and I would provide a non-judgmental sounding board so that we can talk through your options for the birth and work together to draw up your birth plan/preferences, discussing any worries or concerns as they arise. If you are preparing for a home birth, we could also plan and arrange a safe space in your home ready for the big day!

As the birth approaches I would go on call for you so that I am ready when you need me and once labour begins I will provide continuous 1-1 support and reassurance so that you can remain calm and in control. I would encourage your birth partner to care for your needs confidently and in a relaxed manner or I could be your birth partner if you wish. My role at the birth includes providing for your needs, offering comfort measures, acting as a mediator with medical staff and advocate for your birth preferences, ensuring that you understand any interventions that are offered and your choices surrounding their use. If planning a home birth, I could provide care for your other children so that you can focus solely on the birth of your baby.

As a postnatal doula my package includes: debriefing your birthing experiences with you, signposting you to other postnatal care providers e.g. specialists in breastfeeding, mental health, multiples care etc. and empowering you, as parents, to begin the bonding process with your new baby. I can also help you with your recovery and help you in building confidence in your abilities to care for your newborn whilst providing practical assistance such as shopping for essentials, washing, tidying up, meal preparation and/or childcare of baby/siblings while you rest, wash or eat.

Whether you are currently pregnant or have recently given birth you are on the most wonderful journey of parenthood! Growing a family is one of the greatest things you will ever do but as amazing as it is, it can also be challenging and confusing.
