My name is Niamh Hart and I am a birth doula in Belfast, Northern Ireland. After having 2 daughters I became really fascinated with all things pregnancy and birth and my eyes were really opened to how invaluable continuous support can be at this time of life.
Every birthing person deserves to feel the elation of a positive birth and to kickstart their journey into parenthood with confidence and excitement.
The announcement of a doula training course right here in Belfast gave me the push I was waiting for to take action to support others and I trained with Doulas of Northern Ireland in 2023.
One of the benefits of this local, in person training was the insight into the specifics of the Northern Ireland healthcare system; and meeting some wonderful people involved in caring for women here was invaluable.
It is such a privilege to be part of the circle of support for families at such a vulnerable time. My aim is to be there for you - to get to know you in pregnancy and to understand your needs and your hopes for your birth. Every person and every pregnancy is different - I support all kinds of families and all kinds of births. We will have in person sessions during pregnancy and in between I will be available via phone, message etc as often as you need. I will be on call from the 38th week of pregnancy and will be your cheerleader and support for your birth partner during labour, birth and the immediate postnatal period. A postnatal session is also included to see how you all are doing and help or signpost to any further support which might be useful.
I am based in Belfast and support families in this area and beyond.
Client Testimonials
'Niamh was so supportive but always subtly in the background. She helped me with speaking through various options and different stages and really was a rock for me. She constantly encouraged and empowered me. I honestly don't know how I did my first birth without her! The confidence I felt in my decisions and choices has played such a huge part already in my post partum journey but I could not have made these without her support and knowledge. I will forever rave about Niamh and how incredible she was for us. I would thoroughly recommend anyone to have a doula to support them during pregnancy/labour and I honestly feel so lucky to have had Niamh.' BJ 2024
'Excellent is not a strong enough word for Niamh's support during labour and birth. I had a major wobble during labour at home with my husband and Niamh coming completely changed everything around. She provided unwavering support for myself and my husband during the whole process and, due to her support, we had the most beautiful day and I managed to have the birth I had planned for the whole time. J feels that having Niamh as a doula allowed him to be fully present with me and support me the way I had wanted. He has been singing her praises to everyone and anyone who will listen!' CP 2025
