About Me
Hi, thanks for looking at my profile! I’m Paula, a mother of four adult children, living with my husband and two daughters in Camberwell.
With over 16 years of experience as a doula, I am currently working as a mentored post-natal doula on the alternative pathway to join Doula UK. Before working as a doula I was a qualified nurse in both physical and mental health for many years.
I believe the transition into parenthood should be as calm and stress-free as possible, and I aim to do this by nurturing and encouraging you and your family in any way you see fit. Ways in which I can help include offering advice and support, helping with household chores, making healthy food, and watching the baby while you catch up on some much needed sleep. As a doula, and as a parent myself, I feel that the emotional and physical transition into parenthood should not be about merely surviving, but thriving and enjoying the experience.
On top of these core skills, I also offer mental health expertise from working with people with post-natal depression, birth trauma, and anxiety. Through my work as a mental health nurse and as a doula, I have seen first-hand how crucial it is that parents receive emotional and practical support, which allows them to navigate these challenges that new parenthood brings. Birth is the beginning of a journey, and in this journey it’s important to not only offer care for the baby, but also help parents to be strong, competent, and trust themselves, and know their inner strength. I hope to empower you to achieve this ideal.
