About Me
Hello, and welcome to my Doula UK profile. My name is Rebecca and I am a Postnatal Doula. I live in Purley-on-Thames, having moved from Farnborough to our Forever Home with my husband and son in 2021.
I had my son in 2017 – Christmas Day, no less – and returned to work in the Fire Service Control Room in October 2018. Whilst I still enjoyed my job, I felt like an entirely different person on returning and it didn’t seem to ‘fit’ as a career any longer.
It took me until 2022 to realise where I needed to be and what I needed to do. Maybe it was due to me turning 40? Maybe it was simply the right time? Whatever the catalyst, training up as a postnatal doula was the answer for me.
When I had my son, I struggled. That word feels so small compared to the emotions that I felt at the time. I had Postnatal Depression, Postnatal Anxiety, and a baby with medically diagnosed colic. If I had known then that a postnatal doula was an option, I have absolutely no doubt that my experience would have been far more positive with the use of one. It is my own personal and professional mission to ease parents comfortably and peacefully into parenthood, or extended family life, and if I can prevent just one parent from feeling as lost, lonely and confused as I did, it would mean everything.
As your postnatal doula, it is my promise to you that I will tailor my services with precision to you and your family’s requirements, adapting to circumstances and in a manner that works for you. I offer emotional and practical services, alongside appropriate signposting and support options – we can work out together the services that I can offer to match your postnatal needs.
