Rehana displayed compassion, empathy, and understanding throughout labour, birth and postnatally. She is incredibly knowledgeable and I would absolutely recommend her to anyone looking to get a doula. Thank you so much Rehana, for such a calming experience. I felt informed, supported and prepared. Beyond grateful for all your help ❤️ R K

Hello, I’m Rehana—huge congratulations on your pregnancy! I’d be delighted to support you during this incredible journey and the exciting changes a new-born brings. I live in Merton, South London, with my lovely husband, three amazing sons (aged 18, 20, and 23), our two cats, and some quails.

Planning, preparation, and support are key during this life-changing and, at times, challenging phase of life. I offer compassion, support, and continuity to help you prepare for what’s to come—a gap the broken, overworked NHS system simply doesn’t have the time to fill. As a Birth and Postnatal Doula, I am uniquely placed to be there 100% for you.

Why choose me as your doula?

I believe your birth, postnatal journey are unique, aiming to put you at the heart of the service I offer.  By providing information, support, compassion and care for you.  Preparing you, body and mind and making a plan for the decisions you may need to make in your pregnancy, birth and postnatal journey.  Continuity of care, during pregnancy, the birth, and then postnatally when you have brought baby home.

Pregnancy & Birth:  My Support Includes Meeting you 7 times:

  • Antenatally - meeting 3 times between weeks 28 to 37 during pregnancy.
  • Unlimited telephone, WhatsApp, support from the moment we sign contracts right up until the 5th week post birth. With periodical Zoom chats – the frequency is flexible, and depends on you - to check in with your pregnancy.
  • Postnatally - meeting 4 more times during the first 4 weeks post birth.  For a birth reflection, and 3  postnatal support  visits (for details for what postnatal support looks like - see the Postnatal Section). More visits can be arranged, as needed.
  • Helping you prepare for Antenatal/midwife/consultant appointments, with research and information, so that you can positively advocate for your birth wishes, or simply to be there with you for support.

On-call support:

  • Being On-Call for you, starting 10 days before the due date until your baby is born. If Baby decides to come early, I come to your home in early pregnancy and stay till baby is born.

Labour & Birth:

  • Meeting you in your home in early labour, providing comfort and support until the baby is born.
  • After the Birth to stay up to 3 hrs, helping you, and baby to settle in, helping to ensure baby has had the first feed, and ensuring you all are comfortable before I leave.

Other Birth Support Services:

  • Biomechanics for Birth.
  • Aromatherapy
  • Massage and Acupressure for Birth
  • Rebozo for birth support
  • Postnatal care for you and baby.

Postnatal Support: Summary of what the support may include.  Each family is unique in their support needs.

  • Birth debriefing
  • Emotional wellbeing support
  • Feeding support
  • Basic new-born care - bathing, settling, etc.
  • Care for your baby so you have some time to tend to your own needs - having a sleep, a peaceful shower/bath, take a walk, etc.
  •  Light home duties – laundry, dishes, tidying, preparing your lunch, cooking family meals, etc.
  • Running errands – grocery shopping, etc.
  • Sibling support
  • Phone/email support between visits where needed.
  • Access to my resource library of books.
  • Overnight support to help you with feeding, settling, and getting through the night. I am unable to do this, but will help to find a doula buddy who can support you at night.
  • Referrals and links to other services/practitioners for you and your baby where appropriate or as requested.

Postnatal Doula Boundaries and Limitations:

  • I will support you while your confidence builds.
  • I do not take over your role or the care of your child, but rather support you to grow in your own awareness of your baby’s cues and behavioural states and to trust your own instincts when responding to your baby’s needs.
  • I am not a medical practitioner, and am not able to carry out any medical procedures or assessments or make any decisions for you or on your family’s behalf in this regard. I can sign-post you to local services and other professionals who can provide this support.

Final Thoughts

I come with no agenda or biases other than to support you in your choices as your pregnancy and birth, and the early weeks unfolds, to look after you and  your baby.

No-one else involved in your journey is able to do this, midwives will have obligations to the NHS, or family members will bring their own experiences, views and opinions.

As your doula, I work 100% for you and my sole interest is helping you work out what you want, and then to achieve those goals.

Rehana was my doula for the birth of my second child. She is calm and conscientious and takes great care in providing both emotional and practical support and is willing to go the extra mile. Whilst I'm not a type-A personality, I like to have a plan and am good at problem solving. In looking for a doula I was looking for someone who would be able to do these things for me when I wasn't able to, and Rehana fit the bill really well. I was grateful to have her as my doula.

My husband and I had a wonderful experience working with Rehana for a home birth with our second child. She was there throughout the pregnancy with any questions or concerns I had and helped us prepare for having baby at home with natural pain relief methods. During the actual labour she was so skilled at keeping me calm and offering various ways to manage the pain. Her knowledge of biomechanics, massage, aromatherapy and the physiology of birth were so valuable. I would recommend her to any family wanting to work with an experienced and knowledgeable birth advocate.

Rehana helped me tremendously with the birth of my daughter, my husband and I had a really positive experience with her. The meetings we had with her were really helpful and informative, and my husband and I felt far better prepared for the birth than we were before. This was the first time I had a doula and I felt I was more prepared and informed than my last pregnancy, which was a while ago. I felt happy and confidant to have her help and advice throughout the birth to talk through things and support us. She’s kept in regular contact with us to see if we’re all ok and seeing if we have any questions. Overall, we’d highly recommend Rehana as a doula and are really grateful for all her support.
