Doula Rosie (Gard-Storry)

Birth Doula & Mentored Postnatal Doula

I love nothing more then knowing the family's I support have unconditional, continual, positive care throughout their journey. Passionate about infant feeding, Babywearing, Birth and Postpartum care, alongside Birth Pool Hire in and around Cumbria!

Hello, I’m Rosie, a Antenatal Educator, Birth and Postnatal Doula, Breastfeeding specialist and Babywearing supporter and offer birth Pool hire in and around Cumbria.  I live near Penrith with my partner, two children and crazy dog Pepper.

If I'm not adjusting a sling, observing a feed, or talking about birth you will find me running around the fells, baking goodies, reading with a hot drink and adventuring with my family in and around the lake district.

My passion in life is in supporting, empowering and educating families on their parenting journey from pregnancy right through to birth and the fourth trimester. I aim to make you feel calm, confident and connected through all the twists and turns that arise.

I have experienced the doula presence myself and how it helped to have our wishes fulfilled and our preferences respected even when the arrival of our first child wasn’t as expected. My aim as a doula is to enable the families I support to have those same feelings of empowerment we were lucky enough to experience.

As a doula I feels it’s my job to listen, support and be there though your entire journey, I am passionate about continuity of care and being available for any questions, however small. I offer birth and postnatal support, without any bias and without my own agenda as I believe a family’s choices should be based on their own beliefs, informed and evidence-based research that you can use alongside any medical advice that you are given.

I want every family I work with to feel in control of their own birth and postnatal period, to feel confident to follow their own intuition and to understand their rights and feel really listened too. I hope that in any situation a family face, they feel their choices have been respected and heard.

Postnatally I’m able to support you with your infant feeding choices, breastfeeding support, baby-wearing and postpartum healing. I’m here to hold the mother, not the baby, (although that is also a benefit) and bespoke this support to suit each client. I can also offer Birth Pool hire from 38 weeks gestation to when baby is born, please get in touch to get more information and check dates.

I have been supporting families as a birth doula now for over 2 years, with many more years experience with antenatal education and postpartum support. I always feel very privileged  and honoured to be asked to accompany a family in pregnancy, birth and postpartum as their doula and I can’t wait to hear from you and be a part of your journey. I work in and around Cumbria, but please don't hesitate to get in touch if your further away.
