About Me
Hi and thank you for checking my profile. I am Sara, a mother of 2 (daughter born 2017 and son born 2020) and I’m originally from Finland. Becoming a mum played a huge part on me becoming a doula and leaving my corporate career in travel industry. In the heart of my doulaing is nurturing mothers’ confidence and emotional wellbeing.
When a baby is born, a mother is born. These are the words that really spoke to me after having my 1st baby. During those early weeks and months, often described as the 4th trimester, I would like to be there for you to support you both physically, mentally and emotionally as you recover and ease yourself into your new role as a mother. I am here to help you to find your way to mother, so you feel happy, confident and at ease with your decisions on how you wish to parent. I am happy to care for the baby whilst you rest or enjoy a bit of self care. I can cook healthy and nourishing meals or do some light housework (i love folding laundry) or run errands whilst you nest and bond with your baby. I am also here to help you with any feeding or baby care questions and signpost you to researched information to support you with your choices. If you find the idea of going out on your own daunting, I will be happy accompany you. I am also happy to offer some basic neck/ shoulder/ back massage. I am not a trained massage therapist, but do believe in relaxing and soothing human touch.
Having experienced eventful and somewhat stressful pregnancies myself, I would be happy to support any pregnant mothers as well. I can help you with your birth choices and direct you to evidence based information about childbirth whichever way you may wish to give birth to your baby. Obviously I am also happy to offer a listening ear and some space to breath.
In my free time I enjoy running, binging netflix and baking. I also love plaiting hair!
My current hourly rate as a mentored postnatal doula is £21 per hour, minimum of 2h per session. You can find more information about packages and services I offer from my webpage www.saraknowlesdoula.co.uk . I am an enthusiast of all things 4th trimester and believe that a well planned and thought out postnatal period is the key to a happy baby and happy mother. Therefore I also offer postnatal planning sessions where we can delve into normal infant behaviour, sleep arrangements, getting feeding established and nourishing the mother’s well being. I offer postnatal planning sessions for a flat rate of £30/2h. I have a range of books I am happy to borrow for some self study prior to the session.
I own a few baby slings and carriers which I am also happy to lend and assist with so you can feel confident and comfortable wearing your baby.
I can travel within half an hour (10miles give or take) distance from Guildford. I offer my services during school hours and terms, but I am also happy to offer some evening and weekend sessions, but need to make prior arrangements for those.
I look forward to meeting you and making you feel calm, confident and connected to enjoy the crazy ride that is motherhood.
