Please contact me directly through my website or via text/call - the Doula UK enquiry form is going through changes and sometimes doesn't work.
Hello, I’m Sarah, an experienced birth & postnatal doula and hypnobirthing instructor supporting families in Hertfordshire and London. Firstly, congratulations on your pregnancy or the arrival of your little one! This is such an exciting and transformative time, and I’d be honoured to walk alongside you.
As a birth and postnatal doula, I provide the compassionate, continuous care every family deserves. My role is to be a reassuring presence, someone to hold space, provide knowledge, and offer hands-on support, so you feel calm, in control, and confident through pregnancy, birth, and the early days of parenthood (whether it's your first of fourth baby!).
With maternity care becoming increasingly medicalised, and with many families lacking a strong “village” of support, having a doula can make all the difference in helping you feel empowered, informed, and deeply cared for.
Here's all the ways I can support you...
Hypnobirthing & Birth Preparation Classes
Birth education is one of my passions. I teach parents how birth physiology, hormones, and biomechanics work together, and how outside factors can influence this process. With the right knowledge and tools, birth can feel smoother, less painful, and more enjoyable.
These sessions are interactive, practical, and empowering. It’s always incredible to see how education transforms confidence and reduces fear.

Birth Support
As your doula, I’ll be by your side throughout your pregnancy and birth.
What’s included:
- At least two in-person antenatal sessions, tailored to your needs, where we discuss your birth preferences, postnatal plans and help you prepare for birth. This could also include coming to midwife/consultant appointments with you.
- A dedicated Whatsapp group setup for you, your birth partner and myself from the time you book me in, where we can discuss anything and everything pregnancy & birth related.
- Full support and guidance navigating the maternity system, choosing where and how you want to give birth.
- Full access to my library of birth related books, resources and contacts.
- On-call period from 38 weeks until the birth of your baby, with 24/7 contact throughout this time.
- Full physical & emotional support during labour. I’ll stay with you from the moment you call me, until a few hours after your baby has been born and you’re ready for me to leave.
- One postpartum session within the first couple of weeks after birth.
- Continued support via Whatsapp through your fourth trimester.
My focus is always on your birth, your way—helping you feel informed, confident, and supported every step of the way.
Postnatal Support
Once your baby arrives, I focus on “mothering the mother”—because when everyone else’s eyes are on the baby, your recovery is my priority..
Support could include:
- De-briefing your birth - exploring and unpacking your birth experience.
- Emotional support for you (and your partner) through the delicate first few weeks.
- Ensuring you are well nourished by preparing light meals and healthy snacks.
- Support with newborn care and establishing breastfeeding.
- Helping with household tasks - tidying, laundry, etc.
- Watching baby while you get some rest, have a bath or just need some alone time.
- Support with older siblings while you have 1:1 time with your baby.
- Signposting to evidence-based research on topics such as feeding and sleeping.
- Signposting to local professionals and groups e.g. breastfeeding counsellors, baby massage, mum and baby groups.
- Overnight support to ensure you get the rest you need.
I also offer overnight support so you can get restorative sleep, knowing your baby is cared for with love and continuity.
About Me
I’ve always been obsessed with the human body and mind as a child, studying biology, chemistry and psychology A-levels, hoping for a career as a doctor, but instead I followed my super organisation skills, and became a Executive Assistant working in London for 15 years. Unsurprisingly, I felt like something was missing and I wasn’t doing a job that was the real ‘me’. I decided to leave the city job, overhaul my life, and discover what I really wanted to do. Over the next few years I began training as a psychodynamic counsellor, travelled Europe, went to India to do my yoga teacher training, studied massage and herbal medicine in Bali and spent a year living in Australia (yes I know, typical Eat, Pray, Love).
Along the way, someone mentioned doulas to me and I realised this was the job for me! A role where I could bring together all the things I love and am passionate about, supporting and empowering women, helping families emotionally and physically and creating amazing community support systems around them.
I came back to the UK, completed my Intensive Doula training course with Nurturing Birth, and went on to study a hypnobirthing course with The Calm Birth School.
My journey reflects what I now offer: a blend of emotional, physical, and practical care rooted in compassion, knowledge, and a deep respect for birth.
My Focus
Within the birth space I’m extremely interested in perinatal care within different cultures, homeopathic & herbal medicines, nutrition, childhood development, and parental mental health. I love to travel around the world picking up cultural practices from different communities, and in early 2025 spent a month studying Ayurveda for pregnancy & postnatal in India.
I’m also extremely passionate about reducing the numbers of unnecessary inductions and caesareans within the birth system, and exploring all the ways we can do this (hiring a doula & education being the main ones!).
As a doula I’m here to support you through whatever type of birth YOU want, empowering you to make your own decisions and feel ready to take on whatever your birth will bring you. I fully believe your body is more capable than you could ever imagine, and I’m here to help you realise that.
Postnatally I really focus on ‘mothering the mother’ – when all eyes have suddenly gone to the baby, I’ll be there to make sure you are getting looked after, with proper nutrition, rest, massage, a tidy house, and someone there to cry and laugh with along the way.
