You've read the books, taken the classes, practiced your breathing techniques and written your birth plan.
Now it's time to think about what comes after your baby is born.
Do you want to spend the early days and weeks of your new baby's life resting and falling in love with your new baby?
Do you want to be confident in your abilities as a parent?
As your postnatal doula I will be there to be a helping hand and a reassuring presence. I'll provide you with the practical and emotional support you need so you can rest and recover, enjoy this precious time with your new baby and find your way as a new parent.
Practical support can range from things such as baby care, breastfeeding/feeding support, light housework, looking after older children, cooking nutritious meals and looking after your baby so you can rest.
Becoming a parent is a life-changing experience that comes with a range of emotions. From talking about and processing your birth experience to making sense of all the advice out there, I can provide the emotional support you need as you find your way as a new parent.
I was drawn to supporting families as a postnatal doula because I had two very different postnatal experiences and know first hand the difference that good support can make.
Both of my children were born in Lewisham and having lived in the area since 2013, I have a wealth of knowledge about the support and services available to new parents in south east London. I am also an experienced antenatal teacher who has supported hundreds of parents to prepare for birth and early parenthood. I am also a breastfeeding peer supporter where I provide a listening ear and support that empowers women with the information they need to overcome challenges relating to both breast and bottle feeding.
These experiences combine to form a wealth of knowledge about families and their needs in the postnatal period.
Want to know how other parents have had to say about the support I've provided?
In my free time I enjoy spending time outdoors with my family, food foraging and fermenting and getting in touch with my inner granny by knitting and doing cross stitch. I love great food, a good gin and tonic and kitchen dance parties! I look forward to helping you have the start to parenthood that you deserve!
