About Me – Sonal Patel.
I’m a mum of two, a former finance professional, and now a doula and hypnobirthing facilitator. I trained with Developing Doulas and am currently a mentee, continuing to refine my practice. I’m also a certified hypnobirthing facilitator with Birth Prep in a Box, offering practical and emotional support to expectant families.
My passion for this work comes from my own journey through postnatal depression, anxiety, and burnout while balancing motherhood and a demanding corporate career. I saw firsthand how parents—especially mothers—are often expected to put themselves last. Through my healing process, I learned that self-care is essential, not optional, and I now support parents in prioritising their well-being while navigating family, career, and personal growth.
I have a deep interest in the fourth trimester and holistic postpartum recovery, including the role of Ayurvedic nutrition and self-healing through food. Many cultures emphasise the importance of nourishment, rest, and community in the early postpartum period—wisdom that I believe should be accessible to all. I share practical knowledge on how nutrition and mindful practices can support physical and emotional recovery, helping parents regain strength and confidence.
My work extends beyond mothers. I am passionate about supporting fathers, birth partners, and extended families, helping them navigate their roles in the postpartum journey. I also advocate for rebuilding the village, engaging grandparents and community networks to create a strong foundation of support.
Beyond birth, I work with companies to help new parents transition back into the workforce with confidence and balance. I also engage with schools through PSHE programs and diverse communities to spread awareness about birth, postpartum care, and the power of collective support in parenthood.
Through my work, I strive to create a more informed, supported, and connected experience for parents, ensuring they feel empowered in every stage of their journey.
