Home and hospital birth in Bucks, Oxon, Herts and Berks. Night nanny or overnight stays.
HI, I’m Sophie and I am a mentored Birth and Postnatal Doula in Buckinghamshire. It’s aways a privilege to be a part of birth and postnatal experiences. I will support every mother/ family with calm positivity, helping you feel nurtured, empowered and listened to throughout your pregnancy and labour. During our antenatal meetings we can discuss any aspect of labour and birth, so that you feel informed and prepared. My commitment is to support your birth preferences, however and wherever you wish to birth your baby. In labour I will be there to help you (and your birth partner) practically and emotionally.
As a Postnatal Doula I will help you in those first magical days and weeks of parenthood to find your feet and to grow in confidence. To listen with a gentle, non judgemental ear over a cup of tea, cook a meal, hold a baby….or hold a parent as I know the postnatal period can sometimes feel overwhelming. Your feeding journey is an important part of the postnatal support that I offer and the benefits of having someone to help you and your baby as a dyad is shown in several studies.
My experience includes homebirth and I have been working in person through the pandemic. I am fully vaccinated and lateral flow test twice a week.
Some families need help at night and this is something I offer as a Postnatal doula . It can be invaluable for helping to recover from birth and feeling able to cope with energetic toddlers the next day. If you are exclusively breastfeeding I can bring your baby to you and when a feed has finished you can sleep while I change and settle your baby back to sleep. I have worked overnight with several sets of twins and babies born prematurely.
I’m also a Norland Nanny with 28 years experience, during this time I worked with families from birth in combination with working part time as a Teaching Assistant in an independent school in London. Moving out of London, back to where I grew up, and becoming a doula has been a very positive and exciting transition.
I would love to hear from you if you think I might be the right doula to support you at such a special time. There is more information on my website www.calmdoula.co.uk
