Having a doula can make a big difference to your pregnancy, birth and postpartum journey. You need to find one that suits you, and your needs.

Here's some information to help you get to know me better.

My name is Verity, I live in Derby. I have 2 children and a dog. I have worked in special needs teaching for 13 years. Through this I have learnt about a wide spectrum of learning and sensory needs. At the heart of my teaching was always ensuring my students had someone advocating for them and ensuring their voice was heard.

I have carried this ethos through to my birth work. During pregnancy it can feel very overwhelming; each person you meet having a different opinion or offering advice. I want my clients to be able to make their own choices about their birth, from balanced and evidence-based resources.
You will always remember the day you give birth so it is important to make sure you are an active part of the process and make your birth your own.

As your doula; I will provide a listening ear and build a trusting and respectful relationship.
 I will give you an bespoke antenatal education ensuring you understand birth, however that will look for you.
I will listen to your worries and stresses as they arise.
I will help you develop a birth plan, postpartum plan, and teach you some simple pain relief techniques to practice.

During your birth I will provide a calm and consistent support in the room, allowing for co-regulation if required.
I will come prepared with natural pain relief methods and help to hold your space.
I will help to make your voice heard and respected.

I am also a trained hypnobirthing teacher so offer this as part of my packages. Hypnobirthing isn't just about pain management. Hypnobirthing is another tool to help you be confident in yourself and your ability to give birth.

My goal as your doula is to make you feel confident in your choices, feel heard and listened to and feel excited about the birth of your baby.
