I’m Lottie, a Birth & Postnatal Doula.
I am based in NE Derbyshire, very close to the border with South Yorkshire.
I'm in a unique position to be dual trained - firstly with Younique Postnatal, and then went on to train as a birth doula with Continuum Doulas. As a Continuum doula I believe in supporting you well: before, during, and after your birth. You will be provided with a more comprehensive model of care by me, compared to the standard doula model.
I’m sure that some of my life experiences, and more formal training, help me support new mothers and birthing people emotionally, practically and with evidence based information, whatever the lead up, the first few weeks look and feel like, and in the fourth trimester or beyond.
I’m a Mum, Step-mum, Nanna, wife, daughter and sister. I have been a lone parent until our family blended, and 3 became 6.
I have lived in many places, including South America for some of my formative years, but went to Sheffield to train as a nurse, and settled there when I met my late husband.
I enjoy walks in the Peak District, I love cooking and spending time with my family, and friends who have become family.
I have had a passion for supporting women and parents for many years, and would often find myself helping friends, and friends of friends, in their postnatal weeks- organising or cooking meals, listening, holding the baby while Mum slept or showered, helping with siblings...
As an ex nurse of over 34 years experience I can help you navigate the nhs, and it's policies. Maybe more importantly, I will guide you through your questioning and look at evidence and research with you.
I am a volunteer with a telephone bereavement service, and I also organise a yearly Baby Loss Remembrance Service during National Baby Loss Remembrance Awareness Week. Sometimes the birth of a baby can remind us of a previous loss, not just of a baby, but of anyone we miss. Getting to know you before the birth of your baby, where possible, will help us plan any support you may feel you need.
I have experience professionally and personally of working and living with adults with disabilities. Planning ahead will ensure I can offer you the best support and care needed.
After completing my training with Younique Postnatal, I have moved on to train as a 3 step Rewind Practitioner. This gentle practice can help change the way traumatic memories are processed or recalled. This is particularly helpful for birth trauma, for anyone who may have been in the birthing room, but can also be useful for any other trauma you might wish to process. Pregnancy and childbirth can evoke so many emotions and memories.
I welcome everyone of all or no faith, culture, ethnicity, LGBTQ+ and those from marginalised communities.
