I’m Laura, Scottish but living in London for 20 years. I’m a mother of two girls who are now 9 and 6. My passion for ‘doula-ing’ started when my sister had her second child, 12 years ago. I noticed that by keeping her space in order, being one step ahead of the laundry and cooking and giving her one to one time with her firstborn, her experience was easier, smoother, kinder. I had no support when I had both my children and really felt it. My husband worked long hours and I’d spend my days caring for tiny children, exhausted and always feeling a step (or two) behind. To have had help, support, hot tea made for me and dinner in the oven would have made a huge difference to my physical and mental health. That’s why I decided to become a post natal doula, so I could provide this to other parents. My intentions are to make family life easier, softer, gentler. To go at your pace whilst have your home ticking away for you. To give you space to heal from your birth and to empower you to make your own parenting choices regardless of what the books say. I’m a believer in going with your gut and looking after yourself - happy parent, happy baby. My skills include working with perinatal mental health, pregnancy trauma (I suffered 2 hypermesis pregnancies), birth trauma and space cleansing (clear space, clear mind - even with all the kids stuff!). I have lots of experience with breastfeeding and bottle feeding. My first child had a tongue tie and was bottle fed for 3 weeks. With guidance, I managed to get her back to breastfeeding after this and breastfed her until she was over 2. I can offer you:
- Post natal gift packages (please enquire for details)
- Homemade nutritional food and snack preparation
- Birth debriefs
- Perinatal mental health support
- Space cleansing (decluttering, revamping your space)
- Flower baths
- Emotional, practical and informational support
