First off congratulations and warm wishes for a happy birthing. I love forest walks and swimming in the cold north sea. Plants, herbs, gardening and cooking are my jam! I’ve been practicing as a yoga teacher for three years now but have dipped in and out of practice since I was 18 and it colours my entire life. A good practice can be incredibly supportive particularly to the child bearing woman and I've found it to be essential as I navigate my own mothering journey. I eat vegan because I’m interested in living more in balance with nature and have found it to be of great benefit as a breastfeeding mother too. As founding member, former creative director and chef for a local vegan cafe I have a sound knowledge of cultivating a vegan lifestyle and eating well for the pre and postnatal period.
I believe in reclaiming birth and that the large majority of women can birth safely and without the need for any medical interventions. One way to minimise complications is having some continuity of care and this is where having a doula can improve your chances of a positive experience whatever happens. Through my pregnancy yoga training and continuing biomechanics cpds I have a deep understanding of the physiological processes involved in labour and the changes the body goes through during pregnancy. My approach is to provide access to evidence based research and literature to facilitate good unbiased decision making. I believe that a we know our bodies and babies best and encourage the individual to listen to their own intuition and inner wisdom. I also have extensive experience of breastfeeding and the postnatal recovery period through my own journey and further research and supporting others through my weekly mother's circle. I'm also currently volunteering with the nct and starting breastfeeding peer supporter training with them.
