I am a mum of 4 boys, Luke, Leo, Louis and Lennox.
Since I was young I have always been obsessed with babies. Pregnant women also interested me in how did their belly get so big. So growing up I started reading whatever pregnancy books I could get my hands on and in secondary school I done a course called Child Development which was full of information in pregnancy, birth, baby and beyond to toddler years. I really enjoyed this in school and done GCSE in it. I started working full time as a secretary in the Trust and still searching pregnancy and babies on the net. I love to hear everyone’s birth story.
I had heard about a doula and the work they do I knew it was for me. The course at Doulas NI was advertised and I instantly registered. I now want to support women and their families in pregnancy, birth and postnatally. I want to help empower them in their pregnancy journey and have a positive birth and positive postnatal care with their new baby. Since having my own children and having a doula with me on my last pregnancy and birth journey, I now know even more how invaluable it is to have the support of a doula.
I am here to help in any area of your pregnancy, birth or/and postnatal care. I can be there at night times when it is especially more tiring and overwhelming, to help with feeding and letting you and your family sleep or taking the housework burden off you while you spend time with baby.
I am drawn to bees, hence my name doula_bee. Spirit connection to bees is hard work and diligence, community, cooperation, and finding balance. They symbolise birth and the importance of working together for the greater good. I feel this connection is so fitting to my doula work.
