About Me
I started being a Doula long before I began my official training, offering support to my friends and family members, listening, hugging, laughing and crying with them along their birthing journeys.
I trained with ‘Developing Doulas’ in Cambridge in 2011, finding out during the course I was pregnant myself for the second time. So, of course I had a doula for my chosen home birth. Just her presence in the room was enough for me to feel loved, held, safe and nurtured. The relationship we built up during pregnancy was special and it came into its own during my birth.
Having experienced the ‘Doula effect’ I was excited to begin supporting women and couples myself, so in 2013 I took on my first client. Six years later I am now a Recognised Doula (since 2017) and have supported all kinds of births from elective cesareans, births on the consultant led ward, water births on the midwife led ward and of course home births all over Suffolk.
I teach hypnobirthing as part of my Doula package as it is the best way for me to understand you and your partners needs, hopes, fears and plans. We can spend 4 – 6 sessions prior to birth together and more if its needed and I also include a relaxing pregnancy massage and postnatal meeting for any breastfeeding or debrief support.
My passion for empowering women in birth comes from the 3 amazing births I experienced myself. A good birth is directly related to how you feel in labour and whilst you are giving birth. It is my role as your Doula, to protect your space and environment, ensure you are listened to, have all the information you need and above all support you continuously both physically and emotionally during birth.
There is nothing more beautiful and awe inspiring than watching a woman transform into a mother, being present in this moment is both humbling and an honour.
Please do get in touch if you would like to discuss your birth support or if you have any questions. I always meet face to face for a chat first and would advise speaking to two or more Doulas before your make your choice.
I really look forward to hearing from you!
With love, Abigail
