About Me
Hello! I’m Charlotte, and I am a qualified birth and postnatal doula. I live in Godalming with my husband and three-year-old daughter, and her birth was life changing for me. My tricky (though positive) pregnancy, abdominal birth and tough postpartum has had such a monumental impact on who I am, and I have very much felt drawn to support other women and parents on their incredible journey to bringing a new human into the world.
I believe passionately that every woman and birthing person should feel empowered to birth exactly as they would like to. As your doula, it is my responsibility to provide a supportive, calming and reassuring presence as I walk alongside you whilst you navigate the system in which you will birth your baby. I want you to find your voice and your power, and know you can advocate for the birth and postnatal period that you want. I come with no judgement on how you wish labour, where you would like to give birth or how you approach your postpartum. As your doula, it only matters to me that your choices are yours, and that they are made upon a foundation of solid, evidence-based information and without fear or unwanted external influence. I care deeply that you feel that you are at the very centre of everything, that you feel loved and that you believe in your body to birth your baby.
My support is holistic and client-led – the support I provide is tailored to you, as I am very aware that everyone has different emotional, physical and logistical needs. I am on hand to stand in your corner during antenatal appointments, and be in your pocket any time you have doubts, fears or questions. It is a privilege to support you in your birth space and during your fourth trimester as you find your way with your new baby. My postnatal support is mother-centred; it is an honour to be welcomed into the home during such a vulnerable time for you and your family and I work hard to ensure you feel nurtured, cared for and that you have all the support you need.
Connection is so important between a doula and their client, so I offer completely free, no obligation intro sessions to all prospective clients. It is so important that you know you’ve found the right doula for you; that you feel safe in my company, listened to and valued. I am then on call for you from week 38 of your pregnancy until your baby arrives, working quietly alongside you during labour, supporting your birth partner (if you have another) and making sure medical staff understand and hear your wishes. Postnatally I offer practical and emotional care to support you, your family and your new baby – feeding support, help in your recovery, light household chores to lessen the load on you and space to chat about whatever you need.
Please do get in touch, whichever way feels best for you – Instagram, email, phone – and I’ll get back to you as soon as I am able to. I can’t wait to chat!
Areas of Interest
- High-risk pregnancies – Due to a number of medical conditions, my own pregnancy was high-risk, and so I have personal experience as well as experience supporting clients to navigate the medical system with the additional pressures this label can bring
- Gestational Diabetes – I developed GDM during my pregnancy, and so have a wealth of knowledge on both managing the diabetes but also birthing with the condition and what this can mean for you
- Caesarean birth – The birth of my daughter was a planned caesarean; it is a passion of mine to work with clients to ensure their abdominal birth is positive and gentle and that they know all of the options available to them
- Matrescence and the Fourth Trimester – I cannot talk enough about the importance of understanding the Fourth Trimester, those first 12 weeks once baby has been born and the concept of Matrescence – the process we go through as we become mothers and the huge changes (physical, emotional, hormonal and social) that brings and I place so much value on helping clients through this
