Hello and thank you for reading my profile!
Since I first qualified as a maternity nurse in 2011, I have worked with hundreds of families in the postnatal period, both here and abroad. I am also a fully accredited, experienced level 6 Holistic Infant Sleep coach and have worked extensively in this role both face to face and remotely.
I passionately believe in ‘mothering the mother’ and holding space for a new family while they adjust to life with their little one. My aim is to support and coach parents so that they will quickly feel confident at ‘reading’ their baby and trusting their own instincts. I promote gentle, evidence based and child-responsive parenting so that babies grow up feeling safe, with a secure parent-infant bond.
As a sleep coach I particularly focus on helping parents to recognise their babies’ sleep cues and settle them into gentle, age appropriate sleeping patterns right from the word go. This helps keep sleep deprivation at bay and allows parents to enjoy these early days to the full.
Every booking is different, which I love. For many years I was a primary teacher, and I have a deep understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum and early child development. It’s always a delight to look after siblings, and give them some 1:1 attention at a time of transition in their family. I am also happy to run errands, walk dogs, and do light housework and cooking. In this way parents have time for themselves, to bond with their baby, rest or just have some space.
I have experience of working with:
Twins and singles; premature babies; babies with feeding tubes and stoma bags; babies with colic, reflux and allergies; mums recovering from c sections and traumatic births; mums with post-natal depression and anxiety; parents who feel isolated with no ‘village’ nearby.
Kind words from new families
“Clare is truly wonderful at her job and very passionate about helping parents and babies. She helped us with both our children (now 5 months and 3 years) and is always a calming, rational, knowledgeable voice to guide you through the sleep deprived uncertainty. She has great knowledge about reflux too and has plenty of tips and tricks. Our babies responded so well to her caring for and settling them. If we had another baby I would book Clare in straight away!” Sarah
Clare is so knowledgeable, reliable and supportive. I hugely valued and trusted her guidance on routines, breastfeeding, pumping, sleep, swaddling etc and I am sure her advice made our lives as easy as they could be with a newborn. Clare identified dairy intolerance with Edward. We also really enjoyed Clare’s presence in our house and lives, she calmed and soothed us!” Katy
“Clare came highly recommended by both my NCT teacher and yoga teacher. Clare is very experienced and knowledgeable but it’s her wonderful nature that I would give as the number 1 reason for recommending her. She is very caring and has a calming effect on both of us and our twin boys. I wish I could have Clare to help me 24 hours a day”. Laurie
“Clare has an amazing gift to work with babies and came to us when we were needing help with our third baby. She has a very natural ability to calm them down and make them feel at ease with her right from the beginning. She herself is very calm, confident and warm. Clare helped me immensely with her advice, her knowledge of babies with reflux, which we battled with, and also just being a listening ear when I needed it. I can’t recommend her highly enough” Caroline
