About Me
Hi, I’m Clare (she/her). I’m a Birth and Postnatal Doula and Antenatal Educator based in Gower, near Swansea.
I have two daughters and have been involved with birth and parenting since my eldest was born in 2001. At that point I was practicing Aromatherapy but once I went to Baby Massage classes I was hooked! I loved learning about baby cues, meeting other parents, feeling nurtured…and I felt strongly – and still do! – that we need more of this kind of support in the early days for new parents.
I have experienced both a hospital birth and a home birth and been supported by a friend and birth doula, as well as my partner. I am passionate about empowering parents and setting up and co-hosting Exeter’s Home Birth Group, as a space for people to share their concerns and experiences, is one of my happiest achievements – and has given me the pleasure of hearing hundreds of birth stories. I’ve worked as an NCT Practitioner for over 10 years, run Workshops on Waterbirth and Twins & Multiples. I’ve led Bumps and Baby Groups, Breastfeeding Cafes, Stay and Plays (while working for Children’s Centres) and created my own Music & Movement course for older babies and toddlers. I enjoy bringing people together and liaising with birth professionals, regularly working with and teaching alongside midwives.
In 2018 I trained as a Postpartum Doula/Care Professional with Newborn Mothers. I especially loved learning about ayurvedic nutrition and providing the women I work with with warm, nourishing dishes. Most recently I set up Walk and Talk Groups and Mothers’ Circles and I am hoping to start something similar in my new area.
I am passionate about supporting all birthing people and their families and have a special interest in neurodivergence. My experience as an English as a Second Language Teacher means I am also comfortable working with non-native English speakers.
Have a look at the feedback on my website to see the different ways I have supported new parents. I would love to hear about your wishes for your birth and early days so please get in touch.
