Lives in: Swadlincote DE11
Local info and availability:
I'm based in Swadlincote in South Derbyshire which is on the borders of Leicestershire and Staffordshire and a good central location to reach the cities of Derby, Leicester, Nottingham and Birmingham.
I’m Ellie and I live in South Derbyshire with my partner, two young boys and our cat. I love to read, play games, attend Discworld conventions, and fail in my attempts to grow veg in my garden.
I was inspired to become a doula after receiving support from doulas during the birth of my second son. Both of my birth experiences were magnificent however I had my second son at home and it was an intensely powerful and wonderful time where I felt the strength of my body and everything it was capable of, I’m still riding high from the experience now and would love to support other people in feeling the same feelings about their births.
I have experience in baby (and toddler!) wearing, breastfeeding to natural term, tandem feeding and generally juggling having two young children. I volunteer as a breastfeeding peer supporter at some local groups. I believe that all this life experience enables me to bring a lot to the table during postnatal doula support. I can support new parents in any way that they require, from a listening ear and gentle encouragement to light housework, cooking and meal prep, and entertaining any older siblings in addition to helping with the baby while the parents rest. The list of support that I can provide as a postnatal doula is too big to list and any requirements can be talked through in much more detail.
Ellie has always provided me with resources and recommendations that have been spot on.
When I needed information, she knew where to find the answer.
When I needed to rant, she was on the phone and understanding.
When I needed reassurance, she would be my cheerleader.
I feel Ellie has excellent instincts as to what needs to be said or not said. She always made me feel better about the path I was on and I have felt supported throughout my pregnancy with her there.
Ellie has been a great cheerleader and support and just what I needed to keep trusting myself and my body. She’s done great putting things into perspective and keeping me grounded. I would most certainly contact Ellie again if I had an other baby. I just wish I could go back in time and tell myself to get a doula for baby 1 and 2!
Besides the stresses of dealing with hospitals and pushy medical staff a doula has been great for my mental health and for me made the whole experience much more enjoyable and relaxed.
I’d give Ellie 10 out of 10!
Her instincts are great, she always seemed to know what I needed even if I didn’t know it myself.
She has paid really good attention to the little seemingly insignificant remarks I’ve made and as a result I really feel she’s paid attention to the fullest extent.
I’ve always felt like she was there, ready to jump into the thick of it, without getting distracted. Trying to provide information, support and encouragement. She’s been full of empathy and passion for the very best experience and outcome for me and baby.
She even navigated my strongly opinionated husband like a pro and he felt seen and heard as well.
