About Me

Hi I’m Emma and I live in Bushey Heath, Hertfordshire with my husband and girl/boy twins.

I found that no book or course fully prepared me to enter the world of parenthood. It had an amazing impact upon my family life and the journey was certainly made easier by having the assistance of a wonderful maternity nurse. Since then I have always wanted to help and support other parents in their exciting new role.

As a Postnatal Doula I am here to ‘mother the mother‘ both physically and emotionally. As a new parent there are usually so many emotions swirling around – love, excitement, joy, often mixed with exhaustion anxiety and trepidation. I know how overwhelming the first few weeks can be with a new baby and therefore, my aims are to:

• Listen in confidence to your fears, ideas and concerns
• Offer you non-judgemental support
• Provide you with reassurance
• Assist with feeding
• Ensure you rest and take care of yourself
• Provide companionship
• Accompany you to appointments
• Prepare refreshments/light snacks
• Help with light housework – eg, loading the dishwasher, general tidying

My role is to support not only mum but the whole family and I always feel extremely privileged to enter someone’s home when they are at their most vulnerable.  I believe no two families are the same and therefore, my support may differ for each family.

I have trained with Younique Postnatal and have completed the following courses:

• Postnatal Planning Workshop
• Twins & More
• Understanding Newborns
