About Me
After becoming a mother in 2019, I left the Film and Television Industry behind to become a Post-Partum Doula, supporting new mothers as they rediscover who they are. I believe we are always meant to do Motherhood are own way, but we are never meant to do it alone.
Hi, I’m Heather!
I live in Hersham Village with my husband and my daughter. After becoming a mother in 2019, I left the Film and Television Industry behind to become a Post-Partum Doula, supporting new mothers as they rediscover who they are. I decided to make the transition from a Production Co-ordinator in Film and Television to a Post Partum Doula after my own personal struggles in early Motherhood. I had believed I was prepared for that special time, however, I was wrong, and sadly a lack of planning caused me and my family some heartache.
Getting through that challenging time in my life and beginning some self-study into post-partum planning, gave me the grit and determination to learn all I could about the fourth trimester. During the course I took to become qualified, I began to truly understand the deep importance of post-partum planning.
Being a mother continues to be my greatest honour and my biggest challenge. During these last 5 years, I have not only gained knowledge on motherhood, and post-partum planning but also on boundaries, core beliefs, values, co-dependency, inner child work, compassionate enquiry and more. I have learned about the value of selflessness, and my patience has grown in waves. I adore nurturing my family and feel naturally suited to that kind of act of service.
The mothers of today work more than ever, have more pressure on them than ever before, and yet they have the lowest amount of support around them. Social Media rarely shows the reality of what motherhood actually looks like. Motherhood is challenging, that is fact, but it’s also an incredibly rewarding adventure. However, if you’re stuck in a consistent cycle of comparison, frustration and fear; feeling angry, anxious, exhausted, unsupported and lonely, you might never experience these rewards. In my work I aim to guide new mothers as they encounter some of these challenges and overcome the web of problems it can feel like they bring. I often wonder how many mothers out there are just surviving instead of thriving. They deserve better. You, deserve better.
As a post-partum doula, I can tailor my services to meet whatever you and your family need. However, I also provide easy and clear-cut packages. I will provide non-judgemental emotional support, in fact, I pride myself on my active listening skills. I will also provide practical support, whether that be some light cleaning or tidying up, helping you organise the nursery or maybe even accompanying you to the local coffee shop/park. I will also provide information and do any research that may be required to help you come to decisions about your Motherhood journey.
I will actively listen to you, so you will feel heard. I will observe you as a Mother and celebrate your wins, so you will feel seen. I will cook for you, so you will feel nourished. I will be with you at home, in the park, in a cafe, or to appointments, so you will feel supported. I will find you groups to join, so you will feel connected. I will dedicate my time, experience, and knowledge to make sure that those first few days, and weeks after your birth are sacred. I will nurture you as you nurture your baby and together, we will make sure that this treasured time is as exactly as you would like it to be.
