About Me
I am Mum to a teenager and a growing tween. I am a warm, caring and friendly person, with a love for the outdoors including running, cycling and open water swimming.
My doula experience has included hospital, birth centre and home births, induction of labour, VBAC and cesarean birth. I am always supportive of wherever and however a woman chooses to birth her baby.
I can also provide birth trauma support using 3 STEP REWIND and EMDR therapies to help you process a previously traumatic birth.
I am passionate about birth, babies and parenthood! I believe in mothering the mother throughout pregnancy, birth and beyond and my aim is that every woman should experience the best possible birth journey she can.
My role as a doula is to support and care for mothers and their partners throughout her pregnancy, the birth and during those early days with their new baby. I am in awe of what a woman can do during birth and believe that with the right support around her, and no matter what her birth outcome, she can enjoy a positive birth experience. As a doula I offer practical and emotional support to both the mother to be and her birthing partner. I can develop a deep understanding of the couple’s wishes and ensure that I help them achieve those during the birth and early days.
During the prelabour period, I can help with reducing anxiety through hypno-relaxation sessions as well as offering suggestions to improve baby’s presentation to help achieve OFP (optimal fetal position) helping make labour shorter and easier. During labour and birth I provide support with breathing and relaxation techniques, massage, rebozo, suggestions for movement and positions, all of which can help labour advance more smoothly. After the birth, I can support with breastfeeding as a fully trained and experienced breastfeeding supporter I can help from the very first feed through to the early days and weeks. I can also provide support with practical baby care and handling of baby, light household duties, looking after siblings and even support during the first trip to the supermarket!
I am trained with Nurturing Birth as a birth and postnatal doula.
I am also a Daisy Birthing antenatal teacher teaching pregnancy yoga, active birth, relaxation visualization and birth breathing techniques.
I am a baby and postnatal yoga instructor working with babies from 6 weeks of age right through to taking their first steps!
I am a trained and experienced breastfeeding counsellor.
I am DBS checked
I am fully insured
I have over 10 years breastfeeding support experience which includes working on the postnatal ward at the local hospital, one to one support for families at home, running community support groups, and as a volunteer on a national breastfeeding support helpline.
I can suggest soothing and settling techniques for newborns, helping reduce the symptoms of wind/colic and improving sleep and well being.
I can recommend gentle postnatal exercises for mum to help her body recover following the birth.
I have now completed my Doula UK recognition.
