About Me
My name is Gulcan, but everyone calls me Jan.
I am the mother of two amazing adult sons and I am passionate about every aspect of a woman’s experience during pregnancy, birth and what follows.
I am an experienced and qualified prenatal, birth and postnatal Doula.
As your Doula, we will work together and I will emotionally, practically and physically support you while helping you build a safe space for you and your baby as we start this journey.
We will begin when and where you feel most comfortable.
Equipped with knowledge and evidence I will guide you on your journey, with what feels best for you and your baby at the heart of every step.
I believe it is your body, your baby, your birth and therefore your choice.
As every woman is unique, so will her journey into motherhood be. My aim is to empower you and build your confidence so you are able to embrace and enjoy every aspect of your pregnancy, birth and beyond.
I have a great interest in postnatal care and I am fully aware that media, culture or traditional thoughts on childbirth and motherhood can put immense pressure on a new mother. I feel everyone around you should be aware that this can be a very overwhelming time to you and those around you. So I am very aware the family as a unit can need different levels of support. I am a proud Maternity Mate with Women’s Health and Family Services. Through this service, I have supported vulnerable women, those who have escaped domestic violence, have special requirements both physically and mentally. I also have experience with babies who have been born with disabilities.
I have witnessed some difficult circumstances, either with family, birth, postnatal period, and I have the compassion and experience to support accordingly.
