ABM Breastfeeding Counselor
Hello! I’m Jo, a Cambridgshire based mentored Birth and Postnatal Doula.
I have worked with families for near 20 years gathering lots of experiences and skills, but I always knew that something wasn’t quite right working for a large organisation. I felt so passionate about empowering families to make choices that were informed and right for them, for their own family unit, circumstances and feelings, not anyone else’s. I wanted to provide families with the continuity of care that they deserved. Attending Developing Doulas has finally allowed me to gather all the tools I have collected and direct them in the most wonderful of directions allowing me to support people in the way that is individual and personal.
No matter what your past, present or future wishes, feelings or experiences are I want to support you through the antenatal, birth and postnatal period. I will listen to your hopes and feelings and provide- practical and emotional support, but most importantly I want to support you to make the informed choices that work for you and your family- information really is the enemy of fear. You are the expert in your body, your baby and your family and I want to be there for you to find your way in your time. I feel so passionate that women and birthing people should feel like the goddesses that they are as they transition through this incredible stage of life.
Day to day you can find me on a beach or in a muddy field with my two gorgeous (big) babies, husband and dog or on a netball court, but when I am at home I really enjoy spending time reading through my ever growing pile of books feeding my need to learn and develop myself. I am an ABM Breastfeeding Counsellor and really enjoy supporting the national Breastfeeding Helpline by taking calls as often as I can.
In 2018 alongside two other very wonderful women I set up a local breastfeeding and mother to mother support group that continues to run (all be in online at the moment) today with a very active list of members. When we could meet in person there was nothing that soothed my soul more than sitting in a circle with other mums, drinking tea and talking. My oxytocin would always be through the roof by 12pm on a Friday!
If you think that anything I have said resonates with you, please do get in touch for an informal chat.
Services can be provided either online or in person, more information can be found via my website:
Have a lovely day. Jo x
