Active birth and pregnancy yoga teacher since 2001, couples birthpreparation courses and 1-2-1's, pregnancy massage, zero balancing practitioner
Hi, I’m Karin. I’m originally from Denmark but moved to Devon in 1992 to live with my husband, Richard. We have two lovely boys and I attended active birth preparation classes when I was pregnant with them. I was hugely inspired by the classes and my birth experiences (first one was born in water at a maternity unit, second one was born at home) and decided to train and teach these techniques to other women/couples to give them the best possibility of having positive birth experiences. I have therefore been teaching Active Birth and Pregnancy Yoga since January 2001 in Exeter and East Devon and I absolutely love it. My oldest son has now left home and I have decided that it is time for me to start working as a doula to put all the knowledge I have gained over the years into practice. I joined Doula UK in June 2015 and have completed the recognition process – it has been very enjoyable and has also really enriched my teaching. In addition to my active birth training I have done numerous courses over the years incl. Optimal Foetal Positioning with Jean Sutton, Once more onto the Breech with Mary Cronk and Joy Horner, Spinning Babies with Gail Tully, several courses at The Active Birth Centre with Janet Balaskas and Jill Benjoya-Miller, courses on Rebozo techniques, pelvic diaphragm release, breastfeeding support etc. Additionally I am a trained nurse and therefore very familiar with a hospital environment. I am also a trained massage therapist (including pregnancy massage) and Zero Balancer and practice these therapies in Exeter and from my home.
