Hello, firstly thankyou for taking time to read my profile…..
I’m Kimberley, mum of two girls, Ella 17 and Matilda 12 living in Wragby just outside Lincoln in Lincolnshire.
My background has always been in early years working various roles in nurseries, children’s centres and as a nanny. After having my second daughter and struggling with postnatal depression I attended a baby massage class and finally found something positive for me to do with my baby and it was the start of a new life for me. I decided to train in baby massage and then later baby yoga with ‘To Baby and Beyond’ and set up my own business previously called ‘Snuggles and Smiles’ in 2014. Since then I have gone on to train in baby sign, toddler yoga, story massage and have done an adult teaching qualification to become a trainer with ‘To baby and Beyond’ training up other instructors.
I have worked with hundreds of families in this time and absolutely love my job, some parents have described me as a ‘lifeline’ for them in those early weeks when things get tough, I have been the one who just listened and was there for them, not judging or critiquing, but supporting and empowering them reminding them they are doing an amazing job and refering them onto other services if needed to ensure they are getting all the support needed. My classes have created a supportive safe environment where parents can off load and do something positive lwith their baby. I soon noticed that there was a real lack of information and support for women locally  – particularly postnatally and so I started to look into ways I could further my knowledge to help this and provide a better service and that’s when I learned about the role of a doula and found the ‘Birth Bliss Academy’ and straight away knew it was something I was made to do. A few of the mothers in my area also secretly clubbed together to raise some funds to support my training – which I will always be forever grateful for. To have their support and belief in me was the biggest compliment.
I did my training in June 2018, the training was the most amazing 4 days with such inspirational women, and I feel I was provided with the best skills and information to set me up for an amazing next step in my business.
I am so passionate about supporting and informing women to empower them to make their own birthing and parenting choices with confidence, and have the positive experiences we all deserve, and I truly believe that informed choice and a good support network around you  is the best way to do just that.
We invest so much time and money on other life events such as getting married, buying a house, why not on the birth of your baby…..the most life changing and magical event you will experience.
One of my main aims in my business is to prepare women (and their partners) for the arrival of their baby/caring for a newborn…there are antenatal classes and lots of birth information around but nothing for those first few days/weeks at home with your baby. What’s normal/what’s not? Feeding support, guidance for dad too to build up his confidence with supporting you and caring for his family. Someone who will listen to you, whenever you need it for as long as you need it. I believe there is no one way to birth or parent and every woman, every birth, every baby is different to the next.
I can’t wait to be a part of your journey. To welcome new life into the world and be a part of the biggest event in your life is an absolute honour.
