About Me
Hi, I’m Kristin, creator of The Chrysalis, a space for support navigating life’s most transformative journeys. I am a doula (birth + postpartum); childbirth mentor; birth story listener; yoga teacher; and transformational life coach. The Chrysalis is my passionate effort to weave together the transformative practices of yoga and meditation with supportive services for birthing people and women crossing the powerful thresholds of their lives.
Since 2009, I have supported women and birthing people to experience birth as a rite of passage and an opportunity to understand the true depths of their power. I have sat at the feet of those who have birthed and witnessed the transformation that can unfold when a woman or birthing person courageously steps into the unknown with confidence and trust. Birth will bring you to your knees, but true transformation occurs only when we are willing to let go of everything we thought we knew so that we can be changed into someone greater than we could ever imagine.
I consider myself a Radical Birthkeeper. I encourage women and birthing people to own their pregnancy and birth by knowing their rights and becoming educated about pregnancy and the birth process so they are empowered to make informed choices that are best for their families. I also support reconnection with ancestral wisdom – intuitive knowing – and trust it as a guide throughout pregnancy, birth, and parenthood.
As a doula and birthkeeper, I believe in you and your ability to birth. I believe that every birth is sacred. Birth is not a medical event; it is a rite of passage. I respect birth and the many ways that it can unfold. I provide evidence-based information regarding your options in pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum period and respect the choices you make – your body, your baby, your birth. Throughout pregnancy, I not only help you understand the external preparations (the bits around birth plans and antenatal classes), but I also serve as a guide and witness as you navigate the internal preparations for childbirth (How do you deal with the unknown?).
As a holistic, trauma-informed, full-spectrum doula, I work with pregnant and birthing people from all backgrounds and life experiences, including LGBTQ+ families, single mothers, and families who do not typically have access to perinatal support services. I am committed to ensuring all women and birthing people have access to a birth doula and breaking down the barriers that prevent women from having the information and support they deserve as they make the courageous and profound journey into motherhood. I also have experience working with families who have experienced loss, birth trauma, and pregnancy release. 10% of all proceeds are put towards am accessibility fund to ensure support for all who desire and find the need for the nonjudgmental, compassionate, experienced presence of a birthkeeper/doula.
Regardless of where you are on your journey, I would love to talk with you about the possibility of working together.
