About Me
My name is Lexie, I am mum to two wonderful boys, a postnatal doula and a Peer Supporter currently training with the Mindful Breastfeeding School. I have spent the last decade working as a professional nanny for a number of families around Sydney, Australia. My family & I moved back to the UK in early 2023 and I’m excited to be working closely with families, but now focusing on the support right at the beginning. I’ve worked with families of all shapes & sizes, and completely used to walking in to the chaos of family life & juggling the logistics that come with it!
After becoming pregnant with my first, I found myself fascinated by pregnancy, birth, breastfeeding and all of the incredible things our body can achieve. I realised how many gaps in the education and support there is for families, right from the start of pregnancy and through to far after baby is born. I was incredibly lucky to have an amazing friend who was then also my birth doula, we attended a doula led breastfeeding course and even had a beautiful postnatal doula. These incredible women were my introduction to the world of birthwork and such invaluable support in my transition to motherhood.
I soon realised that my experience was not the norm, most mothers who I met had gone in to their births uninformed and blindly trusting what they were told. No one had taken the time to educate them around breastfeeding, sleep and all of the other completely biologically normal behaviours to expect. As a result, every mothers group seemed full of birth trauma, feeding struggles, painful recoveries and oh so many tears.
I am passionate about making sure you are fully informed and prepared for what is ahead. Postpartum is such a transformative time where mothers deserve to be worshipped, held and looked after as beautifully as she does for baby. Going in knowing what is normal, what is not and what your choices are is so important for this huge transition. It absolutely takes a village, and there is nothing I love more than helping a family build theirs.
I can offer a mixture of virtual & in person services with flexibility to fit in with whatever each family needs. I can be at the other end of the phone through pregnancy, postpartum & beyond or I can come and see you in person, supporting and nourishing you through the fourth trimester. I am currently studying with the Mindful Breastfeeding School and looking forward to adding antenatal breastfeeding education to my offering later in 2024!
