About Me

I’ve been doulaing since 2009 – with the pauses in that time to birth and focus on my own 2 babies – driven by the idea that support can enable new parents to experience birth in a way that leaves them feeling happy and in control.

I’ve found to my fascination and pleasure that the trick to my job is mostly in connection and listening. I do have quite a varied breadth of experience of birth and some good practical tricks I’ve picked up along the way and regularly attend study days, courses, conferences, and keep up to date with happenings in the birth and early parenting world. But crucially I find that birthing mothers/people want to find their own way to what works for them, and each differs in what that may be.

The way I’d aim to doula you would begin antenatally with being a respectful, non judgemental, impartial sounding board and support, and conclude with honouring whatever decisions you reached along the ride. I can be on hand throughout your childbearing year with support ranging from providing information and resources to hours of sacral massage/holding your hand whilst you have your epidural sited/sitting quietly in a corner for the duration of your birth to clearing out and packing up a birth pool to sharing the highs and lows of the first couple of weeks with a new baby, and much more, as you need.

I recognise that birth’s a defining and significant life event. One that has long term and far reaching implications for self- esteem, relationships and mental health, as well as for the foundation of your parenthood. I feel everyone deserves to be well cared for to help them find their best selves in it, and that it’s my privilege to play a part in that.
