About Me
Welcoming your new baby to the world is a joyful experience, however the first few weeks can be overwhelming and a postnatal doula can make the world of a difference for you and your family.
As a single Mum, with all my family in South Africa, I understand the importance of being well supported through pregnancy as well as postnatally. The first few weeks and months settling in as a new family is the most precious and sacred time. As a Postnatal Doula it is my duty to provide whatever a family needs, in order to enjoy these precious moments to the fullest.
My role is to help with the transition into motherhood, parenthood, as a new family or growing family and help ease any concerns, burdens or worries. I am there to offer you non-judgemental practical and emotional support – helping to adjust to life with a new baby, mainly to help the new mother build confidence, so that she feels empowered and able to take care of her newborn. This will allow the new family to feel nurtured, feel that they have someone to turn to as a source of information and sign posting to help with day to day life.
Immediately after birth and in the first few weeks following your baby’s birth the baby, I am able to support the family with whatever needs doing in the house – from school runs, walking the dog, helping prepare meals, make a tea, put the washing on, hang it out to dry, pick up groceries or just sit with you over a cup of tea to listen to your concerns or worries.
I also teach yoga – including postnatal yoga and baby massage. I can schedule in time for you and baby for postnatal and baby yoga and teach you and your partner baby massage techniques to increase bonding, also to help alleviate, wind, colic and gas and help your baby through developmental stages and growth or to help sibling bonding.
I believe there is not just ‘one-way’ of doing things and encourage new mothers to develop their own philosophies and to follow their instincts.
I provide suggestions and help around infant feeding – breastfeeding or formula feeding, along with practical newborn tips. I will give you space to discuss any concerns and issues and I generally offer a source of information and companionship.
I am very flexible and my role is to support you and your partner /family with the day to day running of your household so that you can concentrate on getting to know your new baby.
I live in South East London with my beautiful daughter. Before my journey into motherhood, I worked in Human Resources before moving careers to a more holistic one as a Yoga Teacher. I knew then that I wanted to support woman through pregnancy and in the postnatal period. I’m also an OFSTED registered Childminder.
