A little bit about me...

My name is Rachel and first and foremost I am a mother to 4 beautiful young children, two boys & two girls, aged between 5 years and 10 months (I am utterly bonkers you're correct). We live in Bury in Manchester with daddy and our crazy French bulldog. I began this wonderful journey into doula support in 2018 when I began my studying for my Foundation Degree in Birth & Beyond with the National Childbirth Trust. I had 2 young children at the time and those two birth experiences weren't particularly positive ones. I wanted the chance to really make a difference and support families on their journey into parenthood so that they didn't endure the experiences that I had. I had never even heard of a doula at this point. Let alone knew what one did!!! I had my daughter part way through my studies but carried on with sheer determination to qualify as an Antenatal Practitioner after 2 years. I then had my youngest daughter in December 2020 and then qualified as a Postnatal Leader 6 months later. I have been working with families antenatally now for over 2 years and I truly have found my calling in life. I have supported parents with brain injuries, families of premature babies, mothers & partners with postnatal depression and many more. I look forward to this new opportunity to support families on this wonderful but challenging journey.

Antenatal Support

At the moment I am facilitating group antenatal sessions for the NCT in the areas of Bury, Rossendale, Bolton & North Manchester. If you are looking for an opportunity to meet other expectant parents in this area then I would love to welcome you onto a course. You can find these on the NCT website. I also offer 1:1 bespoke birth preparation classes in the comfort of your own home or virtually, which are great if you really want a service that's tailored specifically to your individual journey.

Postnatal Support

As a mum of four, I understand how brilliant this new family life can be but I also know the changes and challenges the journey to parenthood brings. Even as someone with a fantastic support network, I have struggled through dark times in my personal parenting journey. Being a trained NCT Postnatal Leader has equipped me with the knowledge and the skills to best enable me to support families of all shapes and sizes. My postnatal doula work is about supporting you in whichever way is most helpful to you. Ways in which I can help include:

• Birth debrief
• Feeding support
• Keeping siblings entertained (SEN experience)
• Looking after baby while you take some time out
• Light household chores
• Cooking family meals
• Walking the dog
• Birth Trauma 3 Step Rewind
• Holistic sleep advice
• A safe, non-judgemental space to talk through experiences/worries
