Hi my name is Sarah and I am currently a mentored Doula living in West Sussex with my husband,2 children and 2 Golden Retrievers, working 20 miles from my home.
Since being a child I have always been the mum, the nurturer the person whom when people needed support I would be there. After having my first child in 2009 I felt my pull towards the birth world even stronger than ever before. The word Doula back then came up a few times whilst i was looking into where I wanted to sit in this expansive world but it was not well known. I would also like to share that my pregnancy and birth experiences were very different to how you see it portrayed on TV and in the media. I suffered with Hyperemesis Gravidarum with both of my pregnancies, from week 6 until the day I gave birth, both births were also Emergency Caesarean Sections. I can honestly say that if I was equipped with the knowledge and research that I am now my births would have been completely different and this is one of my main motivations to support and empower other birthing people!
Fast forward to 2021 I made the decision to go part time to look after my children after spending much of their younger life working full time, with this came a new avenue!I had time to fulfil myself, to bring joy and to share my love of the birthing world with others.
The rest is an exciting journey of training self discovery and self growth that has got me here writing my introduction for my doulaUK profile and I can’t quite believe it!
I am passionate about supporting pregnant people through one of the (if not THE) biggest transition in their lives. I want to empower you in the birthing world, to equip you with all the information that you would like to navigate your journey and more than anything to nurture and support you.Pregnancy, Birth and the 4th Trimester is a journey, a journey to a new life, new family set up and importantly a new you. Having someone around solely for the purpose of holding space for you, listening, guiding and thinking about what you need is something I think every women should have in her life. Non judgemental, no unwanted feedback or suggestions just gentle conversation, an ear to listen and I make a mean cup of tea too!
I am offering both birth and postnatal services and would love to hear from you if you think I may be a fit for you and your family. I offer a range of services and whilst mentored my services are a lower rate too.
Please go and check out my website and I would love to have a chat so do get in touch!
