About Me
The Peterborough Doula
My name is Shabana and I am a mother of 3 beautiful boys. I live and work from Peterborough. My experience predominantly lies as an antenatal, birth and postnatal doula. I have trained with the proficient Verina Henchy and successfully completed my training in June 2021 and I’m looking forward to continuing my journey as “The Peterborough Doula”.
I love to climb mountains, absorb nature and beauty and spend time with my devoted husband and loving family.
Antenatal Doula
As a Doula during the fragile antenatal period I have supported clients by attending their blood and scan appointments. Where the mother’s partner is not able to attend, I am the trusted companion. I will go through the birth plan with you providing impartial, evidence-based options that will make your birth smoother. Where one of my mothers has been panicked and full of anxiety I have been that reassuring hand on her shoulder providing comfort and encouragement to stay steadfast in your instincts, feelings and choices.
During birth Doula
During this miraculous life changing experience I will do whatever is needed to make the arrival of your bundle of joy smooth. During each contraction I can synchronise my breath with your making each one more bearable. I will massage your back, wipe your brow, simply put that strand of hair behind your ear or give you that sip of water to quench your thirst.
When you are preoccupied with your delivery, having supported you with your birthing plan I will be your independent voice, advocate ensuring that all your decisions are met. Creating as much of a tranquil environment as can be.
Postnatal Doula
When your bundle of joy arrives as a National Childbirth Trust Breastfeeding peer supporter I will be qualified to help position and attach your baby to your breast to ensure that this is effective. I will always be the non-judgemental listening ear what ever you want to talk about. If what you need is an hour to shower, or time to yourself I can hold your baby, cook and look after your family so that’s one less thing for you to worry about. By serving your family I will help create a calm and peaceful atmosphere amidst the change that has come.
