About Me
Hello my name is Sue, I live in a lovely seaside town of Whitstable in Kent. I have four children, Hayley, Shelley, Sam and Molly and also have seven grandchildren. I love spending time with my family and my home is always busy with lots of things going on.
Up until 2011, I worked in education as a student support manager within a secondary school. In my role there, I was working with students that needed that extra bit of support and understanding. I’ve always been drawn to work where I can offer support and nurturing.
I feel passionately about empowering women to make informed choices about their pregnancy. In the past, I have been described as someone who is naturally maternal, caring and calm. As a birth doula, I will spend time with you and your partner, getting to know you both, helping to prepare for the birth of your baby. After meeting to see whether you would like to work with me, I would then see you for two antenatal sessions. You will be able to contact me by phone or email which is unlimited. I will be on call 10 days before your EDD and up until week 42. When your labour begins, I will be with you to provide continuous support during your labour and birth. I will also stay with you for the first feed. When you are back home I will come and see you for a postnatal session and a cuddle with your beautiful baby
As a postnatal Doula, I will be available to offer support wherever you feel you may need it .Whichever your choice of feeding I will be there to offer my support and talk about any concerns that you may have. It could also be preparing meals, popping to the shops, looking after your baby whilst you nap or take a shower, doing the school run if you have older children. I feel that I am able to draw on my experience of running a busy household. Just having that extra pair of hands or a listening ear can make those first few weeks a little easier. Or it maybe that you need some extra help a little further down the line.
My training was with Birthbliss Academy, with the wonderful Kicki Hansard.
I have Paediatric First Aid.
Public liability insurance.
