About Me
Hello and thanks for taking the time to view my profile!
I have always loved babies and am so lucky to have a niece and nephew. In 2018 I took a 16 day course with Birth into Being and it became very clear to me that ‘the quality of birth affects the quality of life in the world’. That experience along with all the other teachings and explorations over the years led me to want to support women through pregnancy and birth.
I am passionate about active and conscious birth and want women to be aware of the choices they have throughout their experience of pregnancy and birth. It brings me great joy to have the privilege of ‘mothering the mother’ and be a part of her journey whether she shares it with a partner or not. I offer non-judgmental support so that she has the birth that is ‘right’ for her. I very much believe that no one size fits all.
It’s proven that with continuity of care and that extra bit of nurturance, a woman’s birth experience can be even more positive. I want to help protect women to enable them to feel safe, to make them feel as comfortable as possible and that they have the privacy they need to let go.
I am fascinated by pre and peri natal psychology and have completed an applied diploma course. My first experience of supporting birth was shadowing a doula in Mexico at Salud Primal birth centre where I spent a few weeks volunteering and I speak decent Spanish but I’m not fluent.
I love dancing, singing (especially vocal improvisation), drumming (I birthed my first drum in 2023), long walks in the countryside, travelling, astrology, speaking Spanish (which I studied at university) and practising yoga, meditation and qi gong. I have done a lot of personal work over the years including a shamanic initiation in the desert in Mexico, an intro into cranio sacral therapy, x2 200 hr yoga teacher trainings as well as womb yoga. I am just about to finish a year long Journey Group with ex independent midwife Fiona Shaw focusing on process work including shadow and inner child work.
I will provide flexible and ongoing emotional and physical support before and during your birth. I will be on hand to assist you through your pregnancy, collaborate with a partner to provide encouragement whilst you give birth, and help with establishing breastfeeding immediately after the birth. I offer personalised support to help you prepare for birth which will include two/three prenatal visits (your choice) to discover your needs and wishes for the birth, discuss and get clear on our expectations of one another, explain options and choices i.e delayed cord clamping so you can make informed decisions and provide you with practical and valuable tools for labour and birth.
I can help you look into an approach to pregnancy and labour that incorporates your body, mind and soul. Throughout your pregnancy and at the start of labour I will be available to support you and provide recommendations via telephone and email if you have questions.
I offer one postnatal follow-up visit to offer whatever support you might require during the early postnatal period.
I am delighted to also offer post partum support as this is just as important and am happy to discuss what your needs are in the first weeks and months after the birth.
